QUICK REVIEW: TARTE RAINFOREST OF THE SEA SKIN TWINKLE LIGHTING PALETTE

HEY MY LOVES! So I thought I’d do a quick review on the tarte rainforest highlighting palette because I haven’t done a beauty review in so long, and this baby is amazing! I picked it up when it launched online at sephora, and was able to play around with it for a bit. I can truly say that I am in LOVE. Highlighters are honestly one of my favourite makeup products to own, and I just feel like you can’t have TOO many of them!

Here’s the low down from sephora’s website:

What it is:
A highlighting trio palette with three universal shades for strobing and perfecting.

What it does:
Brighten up your complexion with a radiant “twinkle” using this sleek, strobing and highlighting palette. Featuring a versatile trio of silky perfecting powders, you can filter and reflect light for a soft focus glow. The middle Filtered Light shade is your go-to setting powder in a universal matte sand that brightens and corrects any darkness under the eyes. Paired with two full-size, luminous perfecting powders, they’re perfect for illuminating the contours of the face for a natural-looking glow that flatters all skintones.

This palette contains:
– 0.20 oz Perfecting powder in Filtered Light
– 2 x 0.085 oz Luminous perfecting powder in Sunlight, Moonlight

I absolutely love the highlighters “sunlight” and “moonlight” in this palette! The shade “sunlight” is a wonderful toned-down gold with yellow undertones, while “moonlight” is a gorgeous champagne peachy-gold that leans more pink. They give a beautiful sheen to the skin and aren’t overly powdery or have glitters in them. You can also build up the highlight to the intensity that you want which is always a plus because sometimes I like to change it up between the day time and the night time. These powders lasted about 8 hours on my skin, but to be honest I haven’t worn highlight for longer than this amount of time; I’m sure that if I did these highlights would hold up well!

The middle shade which is called “filter light” is a matte, very ultra-fine, sand-paper type textured yellow toned powder that is supposed to blur out any imperfections and give you a nice natural finish to the face, or under-eye area. At first I was like “WHY WOULD TARTE ADD THIS SHADE?!” But after playing around with it and using different techniques to apply the powder, I realised that I’m actually enjoying this powder, especially to set around my textured skin where my larger pores are at the centre of my face. I like to use either my clean finger to apply it or a more denser, tapered, setting brush. Not gonna lie, this powder gets a lot of hate but I was able to make it work!

Overall, I say YAY to this palette and if you were thinking of grabbing one, I say now is the time! Hope you enjoyed my quick review! Let me know if you have this palette or if you have anymore questions on it before you purchase! XO
